Needless to say I’m not really very shocked, but Richard Thornhill found 4 ecstasy pills under the front cover in his second-hand copy of Grand Theft Auto IV, which he bought from Gamestation in Cheltenham, England.
Mr Thornhill said: “What made me feel the most distraught was the fact we let our 12-year-old play the game”… you know, that makes me sick as well… a 12 year old playing GTA IV? That kinda seems a little young. Don’t get me wrong, I love the GTA series, but the game is rated “18″ here in the UK, that’s actually worse than taking a 12-year-old to an NC-17 movie in the states. The fact is that Rockstar Games, the developer of GTA series, has to pass out free drugs to the kids so that they’ll play their games. 
The local Gamestation manager invited them to hand the drugs over to the company so they could destroy them and also points out that they have rigorous procedures for accepting pre-owned titles and checking them before they are put back on sale… [just not for common street drugs apparently]…

Hollywood actor Kal Penn has taken a job in the administration of President Barack Obama. That’s right, Obama and Kumar are going to White Castle House!
Kal Penn, who appeared in TV show House and is best known for his role as a pot-smoking student in the Harold and Kumar movies (Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle and Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay), will work in the Office of Public Liaison connecting the President with Asian, Pacific Island communities and arts groups. Sources also say he will also be part of the Whitehouse Hemp Advocate Committee, but that is currently unsubstantiated…

A hacked electronic highway sign in northwestern Texas carried an international message that seemed to predate, well, the use of electricity.
The sign Friday briefly flashed: “OMG The British R coming. They R watching you.”
A statement from Austin Bridge & Road says someone “with a questionable sense of humor” accessed the password on the message board. The portable sign that was hacked has since been removed, since a permanent exit sign has been installed. Similar pranks in other states have transportation authorities worried that drivers may miss important information about upcoming road conditions.
In the spirit of Paul Revere, some nefarious souls have reprogrammed (read as: hacked) some road signs to read differently than the warnings they were meant to be displaying. You might remember that Hack a Day informed us earlier in the week that, “…the keypad inside for programming is often still set with a default password of ‘DOTS’”, allowing the sign to read literally whatever you want — get creative.
Here at Deathcarrot.com we don’t in any way condone changing critical road signs, but we admit we would find early warnings of an impending Zombie (or British, for that matter) Apocalypse very important to surviving said Apocalypse with our brains intact.

Oh, most glorious of traditions, Groundhog day… and I don’t mean the movie with Bill Murray. Groundhog Day began as a Pennsylvania German custom in southeastern and central Pennsylvania in the 18th and 19th centuries, has its origins in ancient European weather lore, wherein a badger, sacred bear, or duckbill platypus (okay, the platypus is a straight up lie) is the prognosticator as opposed to a groundhog.

Nina and Edga Otto have gotten their pooch Lancelot cloned, which had died of cancer last year. The aggrieved couple decided to fill the desperate void by getting their beloved dog cloned in Korea for the huge amount of $155,000. The power of technology that revived the memories of the deceased dog can be realized at the house of Edga and Nina Otto, who had frozen his DNA sample after being diagnosed with cancer some six years back. The couple has named the cloned copy of the dog “Lancelot Encore.” Edga Otto says that the puppy, which is now 10 weeks old, took just a few hours to mingle with the other pets and now he leads nine other dogs in the house. The dog that looks like any other cute puppy resembles its forebear in all ways.

I contest that no one has be harmed… I damn well have been harmed. I fell off my chair when I heard that, one, that there was such a thing as a plush Uterus, and two, that said Uterus had detachable ovaries.
