Ecstasy Pills Found In GTA IV Xbox 360 Game

April 10th, 2009

_45647783_007147519-1Needless to say I’m not really very shocked, but Richard Thornhill found 4 ecstasy pills under the front cover in his second-hand copy of Grand Theft Auto IV, which he bought from Gamestation in Cheltenham, England.

Mr Thornhill said: “What made me feel the most distraught was the fact we let our 12-year-old play the game”… you know, that makes me sick as well… a 12 year old playing GTA IV? That kinda seems a little young. Don’t get me wrong, I love the GTA series, but the game is rated “18″ here in the UK, that’s actually worse than taking a 12-year-old to an NC-17 movie in the states. The fact is that Rockstar Games, the developer of GTA series, has to pass out free drugs to the kids so that they’ll play their games. ;)

The local Gamestation manager invited them to hand the drugs over to the company so they could destroy them and also points out that they have rigorous procedures for accepting pre-owned titles and checking them before they are put back on sale… [just not for common street drugs apparently]…

Is the video game rating system so difficult to understand that parents can’t read them or do they just not care? How early would you let your kids play GTA or not? Why or why not? [via BBC]

Obama And Kumar Go To White Castle… Err… House

April 8th, 2009

Obama and KumarHollywood actor Kal Penn has taken a job in the administration of President Barack Obama. That’s right, Obama and Kumar are going to White Castle House!

Kal Penn, who appeared in TV show House and is best known for his role as a pot-smoking student in the Harold and Kumar movies (Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle and Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay), will work in the Office of Public Liaison connecting the President with Asian, Pacific Island communities and arts groups. Sources also say he will also be part of the Whitehouse Hemp Advocate Committee, but that is currently unsubstantiated…

Xbox 360 Brings Someone Back From The Dead

April 6th, 2009

I forgot to post this the other day… it’s weird, creepy, and Japanese–a perfect morning treat. Apparently the Xbox 360 can “bring people back from the dead” because of its immense power… wow… who knew… and yes, that was really made by Mircosoft.

< ?php } ?>
As of Feb 17th, 2009, only 9 days after posting, the www.deathcarrot.com and Twitter community donated enough money for me to get a new iPhone — this really is the iPhone that Twitter bought! Thank you so much for your kind words and extremely generous donations, I could have never done it without every single one of you.

Last but not least, the guys over at Cheese Blocks Effects sent me a guitar effects pedal, and I gotta be honest, it is the best sounding Tubescreamer I have ever heard. Check them out at www.cheeseblockseffects.com, they do tons of custom work and mods.

On Feb. 4th, some jerks broke into my jeep right outside my house and stole my iPhone, made a few calls, and then, I assume, removed the SIM card — It’s probably on Craigslist, Ebay, or in a pawn shop as you read this! Now, I haven’t had a normal job since October and Deathcarrot.com has pretty much been my only job since then. If you can spare any change or even a few dollars so that I can replace my stolen iPhone, it would be greatly appreciated.

The British Are Coming… YIELD, MERGE RIGHT – Traffic Sign Hacked

February 7th, 2009

Zombie Brits?A hacked electronic highway sign in northwestern Texas carried an international message that seemed to predate, well, the use of electricity.

The sign Friday briefly flashed: “OMG The British R coming. They R watching you.”

A statement from Austin Bridge & Road says someone “with a questionable sense of humor” accessed the password on the message board. The portable sign that was hacked has since been removed, since a permanent exit sign has been installed. Similar pranks in other states have transportation authorities worried that drivers may miss important information about upcoming road conditions.

In the spirit of Paul Revere, some nefarious souls have reprogrammed (read as: hacked) some road signs to read differently than the warnings they were meant to be displaying. You might remember that Hack a Day informed us earlier in the week that, “…the keypad inside for programming is often still set with a default password of ‘DOTS’”, allowing the sign to read literally whatever you want — get creative.

Here at Deathcarrot.com we don’t in any way condone changing critical road signs, but we admit we would find early warnings of an impending Zombie (or British, for that matter) Apocalypse very important to surviving said Apocalypse with our brains intact.

Parking Violation Leads To Malware Download – What I Learned? Don’t Pay Parking Tickets

February 6th, 2009

Non-Free Parking

It seems some enterprising individual in Grand Forks, North Dakota has been placing fake parking violations on cars. If the recipient visited the URL on the flyer, they would be told to install a toolbar to view pictures of their vehicle. That piece of malicious software would then attempt to install several more. The actual vehicle pictures were from Grand Forks, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar attack happen in a much larger city.

Goodness, I didn’t know people in Grand Forks, ND even had computers, let alone the semi-evil genius needed to perpetrate such a crime. I knew that I was doing something right when I didn’t pay my parking tickets! Let’s hear it for being lazy! [via HackaDay]

Wash Your You-Know-What With Playstation Soap

February 3rd, 2009

Playstation SoapYou know what isn’t fun enough? Washing your hands. Thankfully, the folks at Digitalsoaps have come up with a solution: soap in the shape of a PlayStation controller. These custom-made soaps come in a variety of scents, like juicy watermelon, grapefruit jasmine, Hawaiian white ginger, bay rum, pear glaze and mocha cappuccino. Not only will you be clean, but you’ll be hungry as well!

Each bar of soap goes for $4.25. International shipping is offered, but it’s quite pricey. With Valentine’s Day coming up, this might be a good gift for that hygiene-deprived friend in your life. I think it is a terrible idea, and I’d rather wash with a cactus than rub anything remotely resembling a Sony product anywhere near my nether regions — but that’s just me. Punxsutawney Phil Says “Six More Weeks of Winter!” — Well Crap!

February 2nd, 2009

Phil Says "Six More Weeks of Winter!"Oh, most glorious of traditions, Groundhog day… and I don’t mean the movie with Bill Murray. Groundhog Day began as a Pennsylvania German custom in southeastern and central Pennsylvania in the 18th and 19th centuries, has its origins in ancient European weather lore, wherein a badger, sacred bear, or duckbill platypus (okay, the platypus is a straight up lie) is the prognosticator as opposed to a groundhog.

Phil’s official forecast as read February 2nd, 2009 at sunrise at Gobbler’s Knob:

Hear Ye Hear Ye

On Gobbler’s Knob this glorious Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2009

Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators

Awoke to the call of President Bill Cooper

And greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths

After casting a joyful eye towards thousands of his faithful followers,

Phil proclaimed that his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers were World Champions one more time

And a bright sky above me

Showed my shadow beside me.

So 6 more weeks of winter it will be.

I guess I need to bundle up by the fire to write for a little bit longer… or at least keep my Macbook Pro on my lap… it’s like a space heater for my balls lap after all. [via Groundhog.org]

BTW, check out Penny Arcade if you don’t believe me!
