Viacom and Time Warner reach deal, avoid blackout — Sponge Bob Jubilant

January 1st, 2009

Sponge Bob Jubilant Viacom and Time Warner Cable reached an “agreement” early Thursday morning, avoiding a blackout that would have left 13 million viewers without MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon… their God given right! After a day of dragging each other through the mud and media, Viacom decided that somewhere in the neighborhood for $40 million would do nicely.

“It’s gratifying that we could reach an agreement that benefits not only our audiences but that is also in the best interest of both of our companies.” – Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman
